Fragrant Hill & Western Hills

Chang’an Avenue, First Avenue of China   Dingdu Peak of Western Hills with lush forests of tall evergreens   Crystal-clear water flowing in Yongding River   Tanzhe Temple with a history of over one thousand years, blessed by nature
Chang’an Avenue is bustling in both ancient and modern times. It is the east-west axis of the Beijing City, stretching from the Fragrant Hill, and demarcated by the Tiananmen Square. Chang’an No.1 lies at the western end of the central axis of Chang’an Avenue, where the dragon vein of Beijing originates, and it is opposite to the Tiananmen Square in the east.   Western Hills stretch hundreds of miles, with 60 mountain peaks, like a dragon guarding Beijing city. Chang’an No.1 is situated at the foot of Dingdu Peak. The hills are hunting places in spring and good resort in summer, and endow maple in autumn and snow-covered landscape in Winter.   Yongding River is Beijing’s mother river. It winds from the west to the south. With a history of 3000 years, it has witnessed the splendid civilization in Beijing. At present, Yongding River passes through one lake, ten gardens and four waters. Chang’an No.1 lies in a biological and peaceful conservation area.   Tanzhe Temple lies on the same imperial dragon vein as Chang’an No.1. It is situated at the southern foot of the Western Hills, which is a popular retreat for both ancient and modern people. It is the earliest Buddhist temple built in Beijing city. There is a saying: “Tanzhe Temple is earlier than Beijing city”.
